Theme of the Month - October: Carbon Negative Materials

What if we could manufacture the products we consume and the cities and structures we live in out of raw materials that come from directly from the air? While this may sound like science fiction, many companies have visions to do just that -- and are building products to show that a carbon negative built environment can become a reality. This month, the Center for Carbon Removal will feature companies that are developing materials such as:

  • Cements
  • Plastics
  • Carbon fibers
"AirCarbon" plastics being developed by Newlight Technologies show the potential for carbon-negative plastics

We will also be discussing the overlaps between carbon negative products and other carbon removal fields, including:

  • reforestation and the link to carbon-negative lumber
  • enhanced weathering and carbon-negative stone/gravel
  • biochar and carbon-negative fertilizer

Stay tuned for updates, and make sure to share your thoughts and stories about carbon-negative materials with us this month!
