Carbon Recycling Labs provides specialized support for the nascent carbon recycling industry.
What is Carbon Recycling Labs?
Carbon Recycling Labs (CRL) is a virtual, multi-phase, specialized commercialization assistance program providing support for the nascent carbon recycling industry that converts carbon dioxide, bio-methane, and lignocellulosic biomass into valued products. It accelerates startups while addressing challenges in the larger carbon recycling ecosystem that hinder investors, corporate, and NGO partners from taking action in this field.
The program is an initiative of Center for Carbon Removal, a non-profit that works to accelerate strategies that remove carbon from the atmosphere with the ultimate goal of deploying negative emissions on a global scale. Carbon utilization is an important first-step in developing the technologies, infrastructure, and policy environment required for large-scale carbon sequestration.
How does it work?
The program will span three phases designed to transition early-stage technology innovations from lab-to-first investment.
Phase 1: Customer Discovery
Carbon Recycling Labs provides up to $30,000 in non-dilutive funding and a structured entrepreneurship and customer discovery curriculum. Great technology is important, but there also has to be a matched to a business case. Phase 1 includes an in-person "bootcamp" event.
Phase 2: Build the Prototype
Carbon Recycling Labs provides up to $250,000 in funding to selected teams along with access to physical labs spaces and continued entrepreneurship mentoring to further reduce the technical risk. Phase 2 includes additional on-sites in Washington DC and a culminating pitch day in the San Francisco Bay area.
Phase 3: Transition to a Demonstration
Carbon Recycling Labs has partnered with specialized test sites to host field demonstrations of promising teams & their technologies. These partners facilitate getting on-the-ground operating experience and validation.
